Yes, the Hipster Grifter Law & Order Episode is Coming

A tipster tells us Law & Order has put out a confidential casting call for someone who sounds a lot like Kari Ferrell, our favorite Brooklyn scammer. The show is said to be seeking Asian females, 25-29, to play a character who mirrors Ferrell's penchant for using sex and faked medical conditions to elicit sympathy and cash from gullible guys. [Note: we took out the specifics from the description because our tipster is afraid that revealing details might cost them their job] Ferrell is, of course, perfect for the "ripped from the headlines" show; her youth and sex appeal should draw much better ratings than the episode about the fornicating middle-aged lawyer based on Eliot Spitzer. The only question is whether Ferrell's precious criminal quirks can be translated for network television; as our tipster writes, there's "no word yet on whether or not she will be giving Jack McCoy a hand job with her mouth." CocoPerez: Perez Hilton's Sad Bid for Legitimacy

It's not officially launched, but Perez Hilton sporadically allowed access this morning to his new publication for discerning 26-year-old women. Intended to class up the internet cockroach's image, the new site looks like it will just dilute his sleazy reputation. CocoPerez.com has been exposed in dribs and drabs; the website Evil Beet snuck past its password protection, then the website became freely available for maybe half an hour, now it's back to being password protected. The site is meant to be more advertiser-friendly, and consequently finds Hilton doodling fewer crude captions on pictures. But his nasty side shows through sometimes, as in this caption: Then there's this sarcastic headline, complete with Hilton's trademark double exclamation points: But there's also analytical rigor! Evil Beet noticed that Hilton has been reposting items written for his old site, expanded with more "analysis." Below is a post about Harvard University's obnoxious new clothing line. On PerezHilton.com, the coverage ended with, "This is all fine and well, but there is one lingering question… why???" On CocoPerez.com, it ends, This is all fine and well, but there is one lingering question: why?? This is from so far left field. We would understand if The New School or RISD or any number of artistic/fashion focused schools launched a line - it would still be unusual but at least a logical progression. But this?? This is just so random. Especially since Harvard isn't exactly thought of as the apex of fashion. This is like Janet Reno announcing she's launching a line of lingerie. You just can't get your head around it because it's so…bizarre. Well, at least they've got our attention! It is for this value-added piercing insight that the new site is apparently sponsored by Gap. We'd be surprised if many more sugar daddies sign on: Hilton's biggest advantage has been that he'll say anything, no matter how tasteless. But now he wants to make bank by playing nice, leading to muddles like CocoPerez. MORE >>

How Getty Images Screwed Art Capital Group's Deal With Annie Leibovitz

There are new details in Art Capital Group's ongoing legal battle with celebrity photographer/pauper Annie Leibovitz: Art Capital has also sued Getty Images, alleging that the giant photo agency tried to undermine its deal with Leibovitz. Art Capital loaned Leibovitz $24 million last year to help her consolidate her gargantuan debts to her employer Condé Nast and others, taking the rights to Leibovitz's homes and photo archive as collateral. The deal also granted Art Capital the exclusive right to agent a sale of Leibovitz's photos, including any future photo shoots. The company sued Leibovitz last month, claiming she refused to cooperate with its attempts to sell the archive, which Art Capital says is the only conceivable way it will recoup the loan. When we reported on that suit last month, we mentioned that Art Capital was also mad at Getty Images for announcing what looked like an agency agreement with Leibovitz in March, in apparent violation of the Art Capital deal. What we didn't know at the time was that Art Capital had actually sued Getty in April, claiming that Getty pretended to be interested in buying Leibovitz's photo archive in order to gain competitive advantage in negotiating its own agency deal with her. According to a judge's order allowing parts of Art Capital's suit to go forward, Art Capital claims that Getty CEO Jonathan Klein and vice president Matthew Butson masqueraded as potential buyers for Leibovitz's photo collection, gaining access to information about it including the "number of shots, rolls of film, exposures, and public works" in the archive, the precise terms of Leibovitz's arrangement with Vanity Fair, and the fact that Leibovitz owned some of her work for Rolling Stone "without restriction." As part of Art Capital's negotiations with Getty, the order says, Art Capital proposed that Leibovitz promise to do eight photo shoots for Getty over the next two years. All-in-all, Art Capital—which made Getty sign two confidentiality agreements—valued the package at $50 million. But in March, Getty offered a "low-ball bid" of $15 million, and Art Capital stopped negotiations and turned to another buyer. Eight days later, Getty announced its own deal with Leibovitz, which Art Capital says "used verbatim the two-year, eight-shoot collaboration with Leibovitz that [Art Capital] had proposed." In other words, Art Capital claims, Getty violated its confidentiality agreement in order to get closer to Leibovitz and figure out what she had, what she was worth, and what she was willing to do. Getty didn't buy the archive—just the eight shoots—but Art Capital says that Getty's interference scared off another unidentified potential buyer, presumably because the Getty deal appeared to muddy the legal waters as to who was actually representing Leibovitz—and who wants to spend $50 million on pretty pictures when a raft of lawsuits is in the offing? Interestingly, according to the order, Art Capital was... MORE >>

Alex von Furstenberg Is One Jealous Fellow

Alex von Furstenberg flipped out, with insanity, when he found out his fiancee was flirting sexxxily with washed-up NBA star Reggie Miller. You got off easy, Reggie. Alex has been know to punch faces over this sort of thing. All Alex did in this case was to hire a plane to fly over California beaches towing a banner that said "REGGIE MILLER STOP PURSUING MARRIED WOMEN," which—let's be honest—makes Alex look worse than Reggie. Particularly because the woman in question, Ali Kay, is not married. But this is a step toward civility for Alex, according to the New York Post; in 2003, AVF caught an assault charge (later expunged!) for beating up a dude who tried flirting with Ali: Von Furstenberg's victim, Rowen Seibel, said he was sitting in his car at around 1 in the morning when Alex — also in a car — put his vehicle in reverse and repeatedly slammed it into Seibel's, according to court papers. Von Furstenberg then got out of his car, smashed Seibel in the face and head with his fist, threw him to the ground and kicked him, court papers allege. So, progress! We hope this was not due to intimidation by Reggie Miller, though. He's no Anthony Mason. [AVF pic: AP. Ali Kay pic via] MORE >>
