Shortcuts to Quality Backlinks for Your Website
March 27, 2009 at 7:27 am

Backlinks tips
Chris Charlton asked:

Building quality, one way links to your website can be difficult, time consuming and frustrating. It is generally agreed that the best way to build links is to build them gradually over time, relying on natural links to your original, frequently updated content.

There are, however, a few shortcuts to building up links. They are not easy ways to make your site popular, nor are they guaranteed to work for everybody. They are simply some casual tips to help you obtain a few quality inbound links.

Submit Articles to Digg

Google absolutely loves Digg. The site is spidered very frequently and the domain has a lot of authority in terms of link building. Even stories with no diggs will still be spidered, so long as there is a navigational path for the spiders to use to reach it. Google cannot use the number of diggs as any sort of authority when ranking a URL, yet…

For the best long term effects only submit good quality articles to Digg. Or better yet, let your users submit the articles that they think are worthwhile. You will quickly get a reputation as a spammer if you keep posting unpopular content.

Other Social Networking sites

Submitting to social bookmarking and social networking sites can be hot and miss for some people.

Some social bookmarking sites such as Delicious and Twitter use “nofollow” on their links so they cannot influence rankings. Other sites, such as Furl, do not.

Having your links on a few social network profiles may also be useful in building up the number of links. For others it is simply not worth it. While some, such as Facebook, do use “nofollow” on their links, some do not. However, the weight that these links carry is relatively low, despite the authority these domains actually carry.

“Widgetbait”

"Widgetbait" is a term thrown around for an object that is added to a user’s website or blog. This item features a link back to the author's website. If the object is installed on many thousands of websites, this results in many thousands of backlinks. The classic examples of widgetbait include online quizzes, IQ tests or horoscopes.

While these links are valuable to some, for others the quality of the link and the traffic it brings is just too low. If the text of the link bears no relation to the page in which it is contained, Google becomes suspicious. Additionally, the text that links back to the site must relate to the widget, and, the link must go back to the author’s website, not a third party site.

A classic example of spammy widgetbait would be an IQ test that features a text link to an online dating site. Google would soon hear of this and the sites involved, including the sites distributing the widget and the site being linked to would be penalised.

The Best Kind of WidgetBait: Just Build Something Useful

The best type of widgetbait is to simply create something that people want to use. Classic examples of this are Winamp Skins, modifications for forum software such as Invision Power Board and plugins or themes for Wordpress. Why are these good ideas? They will result in you being listed on the official website of each respective product. These sites are popular and the links they feature carry a lot of influence.

Find high PageRank Sites that allow Backlinks

This excellent tool from Seo Chat allows you to perform a web search and sort the results by PageRank. You can look for websites relevant to your content from which you may be able to get backlinks. Good examples include forums and blogs. Always ensure that these sites do not use "nofollow" on their links.

What About Directories?

Web directories used to be incredibly helpful in building up the number of incoming links to a website. The usefulness of directories is decreasing over time and many people question whether there is any worth in pursuing directory submissions at all. The two notable exceptions to this are the Open Directory Project and Yahoo! Directory. The following list outlines the main problems with using directories. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide if it is a strategy worth pursuing.

Does it Check the Quality and Topic of Submissions?

Any free-for-all web directory that has not been penalised by Google is just one site review away from being so. These are nothing more than spam farms. The directory's editors should at least check the site to verify the given information and ensure the site is legitimate.

On a similar note, web directories should generally be targeted to a specific audience. Most general web directories that have no specific focus will not be of any use to you.

Can it Still Pass PageRank?

While PageRank is far from being the answer to every SEO question, it is still a useful indication as to how “useful” Google thinks a page is. Bear in mind that the most up to date Page Rank is at least a few months old. Use the following strategy to determine if a site has been penalised in Google:

Search for the website's title in Google.

Search for a large block of text from the site's homepage.

Search for the actual domain in Google.

If the site doesn't rank for one and two, but it does for number three, it has been penalised in Google and probably won't be able to pass PageRank. If it does not rank for any of these steps, the site has probably not been indexed by Google.

Any directory that has been penalised by Google has done something against Google's guidelines. Don't associate your website with any directory like this. Google is seriously cracking down on paid links. Any spammy web directory, particularly those that charge for links, are in the firing line as far as being penalised by Google.

Does a Link on this Directory Actually Mean Anything?

Don't submit to a directory just for a link. Make sure the link is worth your time. A link is not worth having if:

The specific category pages are not indexed,

There are too many links on a single page - having too many links on a single page with dilute down the ranking influence that is passed, or

The directory has very little traffic to send to your website

If you decide to use a web directory, this article entitled 50 Page Rank 3 Or Higher Free Website Directories is a good resource. Just remember to assess the quality of the directory first.

Areas to Avoid

Two of the main places that people try to spam for backlinks are Yahoo! Answers and Wikipedia. Both of these sites use "nofollow" in their links. There is often misunderstanding and false information given about this, but it is true for both sites. If the situation ever changes or you need to verify it for yourself, simply look at the source code on each website. The new service from Google, Knol, also uses a nofollow meta tag to prevent any links being followed.

SEO Hints on How to Optimize a Website - Advanced SEO Tips
March 27, 2009 at 7:04 am

Seo tips
Peter Nisbet asked:

If you learn how to optimize a web page properly using these SEO hints and tips, then you will never have to pay for traffic again. The profit that your visitors bring you will go straight into your bank account.

You no doubt understand all the basic stuff, but in case you are new to this, let’s first have look at these basic SEO hints and tips, since many seem to omit them from their web pages. The most important are the HTML tags that are used by search engines to determine the relevance of your page to the search term used by the search engine’s customer.

Note the term ‘web page’, because many people don’t realize that Google, along with most other search engines, doesn’t list websites, but individual web pages. It is essential that you understand how search engines work if you want to learn how to optimize a web page.

I am going to refer to Google, not only because it is the biggest of the search engines, but also to save the bother of referring to search engines all the time. I will refer to Google, but take that as meaning search engines in general. Here are the main SEO basics:

a) The TITLE tag. This appears in the HEAD portion of your html, and is not actually seen by your visitors but is the most important tag on your web page because the spiders place very high weight to it. Use your main keywords here, and also any other text that will inform Google of the theme of your web page.

b) Heading (H) tags. Your page title should be placed within H1 tags, and should contain the same major keyword as you used in the TITLE tag. Your subheadings, if any, should be bracketed with H2 tags. I don’t use any of the lower tags, from H3 down, except perhaps H3 very occasionally. Any text with H tags will be regarded by Google as of specific importance, and most weight will be given to the lower numbers (H1 and H2). Don’t place eberything within H1 tags, or that will reduce its emphasis and Google will ignore the tag.

c) Text enhancements: Use bold, italic and underline enhancements sparingly, and where you one again want to stress the importance of certain keywords.

d) Your keyword density should be concentrated in the first third of your web page. Don’t use too many: I get good results with under 1% overall keyword density, but using the main keyword in the first 100 characters, once in the last paragraph and once more each 300 words but concentrated in the first third of the page. Thus, an 800 word page will have the keyword three times in the first 250 words and once in the last paragraph.

e) Meta tags: the only meta tag worth using is the description tag, which is used by most search engines in the description of your web page in their listings. Google mainly uses it exactly as you write it. The keyword tag can also be used, but few search engines are thought to use it: Google does not. Any other meta tags are a waste of your space. Anybody that claims differently is wanting to sell you something.

These are the basic hints on SEO, now here are some of the more advanced SEO hints and tips that will teach you not only how to optimize a web page, but to understand the way that search engines work. These are less obvious, and generally not used by beginners to search engine marketing.

f) You should use text links from one page to another on your siet. Search engine spiders love text, and fancy graphics or java links might look great, but don’t get you kudos from the spiders. Stick to text if you want a good listing: there’s no point in fancy graphical links if you have no visitors to use them.

g) IT will benefit to you use as liuttle code as possible on each web page compared to the amount of text: maximise your text:code ratio. Your code to text ratio should be minimized as far as possible because . . . yes, you’ve got it! Spiders love text!

h) Another good SEO tip is to focus on your off-page linking. It is possible to get a #1 spot on Google with no content: just loads of links coming into your web page from other websites. Not just any websites, but authority sites, so reciprocal links to and from web pages not directly related to your niche are a waste of time, and can even harm you. Link farms can positively damage you.

i) Use anchor text for your links where at all possible. Google shouldn’t have to work out what your web page is about: tell them. Hyperlink your keyword to your website, but don’t use the same form of keyword from every webpage linking to yours. Mix them about so as to keep the links fresh.

j) And lastly: keep adding pages to your website. A single website containing 80 pages will likly provide you with more visitors that two of 40 pages due to a higher overall Google listing from the former as compared to both of the 40 page sites. Refresh your content frequently by adding new pages, but don’t ignore your older pages: rdevise these now and again with new vocabulary. Google detests stagnation.

These are just a few SEO hints and tips that can teach you how to optimize a web page. There are many, many more. Some quite basic, others very much more advanced than the above. However, you can’t get everything free!

Self-published Authors & Self-promotion: Essential Pre-publication Promotion Tips
March 26, 2009 at 9:44 pm

Promote tips
Stacy-Deanne asked:

Time and time again we've seen articles that give tips to helping self-published authors gain exposure after their book is completed. But by this time it's way too late. Traditionally published authors have a leg up. They receive help from publishers and in-house publicists to promote their books. Self-published authors do not have this luxury. Waiting too late to promote a self-published book could lead the author to defeat before the book is even available for purchase.

Being a traditionally published author, I still do most of my own promotion. This has helped me learn a lot. Self-published authors look to me for advice and I go out of my way not to offer the generic tips for promotion. The old fashioned tips of yesterday barely work for traditional authors and they do nothing for self-published authors. Self-published authors have to put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into promotion. Not only did they write the book, but also they published it. They should begin to think of themselves as true publishers and no longer as authors. It doesn't matter if a book is good, if no one knows it's out there, it will not sell.

I'd like to share some tips that should give self-published authors more understanding about how crucial the right amount of promotion is for a self-published book.

It's Never Too Early

Traditional publishers begin marketing their authors' books months before the books come out. While this is the usual time frame for pre-promotion, this will not do squat for a self-published book. Self-published authors should begin promoting themselves before the book is even completed. Self-published authors need to create a solid buzz and make sure people know they've written a book before it goes to print. A good amount of pre-promotion buzz for a self-published book would be a year before the book is released. That's right, a year before you publish it. Remember it's hard to promote a self-published book. It's even harder if you expect to be able to compete with new books on the market that are traditionally published. And that, is whom you'll be competing with. Promotion should begin as soon as you officially decide to publish your own book.

Promote Yourself to the Industry Not Just Your Potential Audience

While beginning the promotional process, do not ignore the industry itself. Promote yourself to other writers, journalists, media outlets and book reviewers during pre-promotion. Join writing groups and author groups that allow the membership of self-published authors. Join social networks and scream from the sky that you're an author. Have a killer web site. Become friends with independent bookstores (you're gonna need them), and online bookstores such as Amazon. You are not only an author but also a publisher. Act like it! Authors do not have to build a relationship with bookstores but publishers do. If you sign on to be your own publisher, you must do the things real publishers do. You need to build up a presence and knowledge within the industry. You also need to build up a strong partnership with booksellers. This will be your bread and butter. Also, establish as many media contacts as you can. You not only have to be the author and publisher, but also the publicist. Self-publishing a book causes you to wear many hats. It's time to get down to business.

Do Not Ignore Book Clubs When You're Self-Published

Book clubs can bring you exposure, especially if they liked your book. But book clubs have to be aware of your book to take interest. Traditional publishers will often ask their authors for a list of book clubs an author would like for the publisher to contact. Authors also contact book clubs themselves to bring awareness. One thing I've noticed is that self-published authors never seem to promote to book clubs. Book clubs can bring you tons of exposure and reviews. They not only read and discuss your book but they also share information with organizations, libraries and other book clubs.

The good part is that book clubs don't seem to be as prejudice against self-published authors as other options. Self-published authors should begin contacting book club leaders months before publication. Email them or call them if there is a number. Pitch your book to them as if you were pitching it to a bookstore. If they seem uninterested, offer them something to change their mind. If you live in the area of a particular club, offer to come and speak to the club. Offer to order the books for the club members for them to read and review. Most times it's a long wait to receive a self-published title once you've ordered it. Give them autographed copies. Help the group out and they will be more willing to help you. Get the ball rolling the best way you can. You can sell tons of books through book clubs alone. This is another time you need to remember that you're also the publisher and publicist. Act like it.

Promote Through Other Self-Published Authors And Visa Versa

Okay so you're struggling to sell your self-published book. The odds are that you're not the only one in this predicament. Cross promotion can be very effective if used correctly. Self-published authors can promote each other faster than promoting themselves alone. Review books of other self-published authors and post your reviews (honest reviews), on sites such as Amazon. If you didn't like the book, you can always tell the author and give them the chance to reject your opportunity to review or not, but this is great promotion. Most book reviewers will not touch a self-published book, so this may be the best option. The trick is to pick the best author to review your work. Don't just pick anyone. Pick someone who's gaining respect in the industry as a self-published author. You want someone who is popular and whose blurb or review will get you some readership.

Getting reviews from just any self-published author will not do. In return, review their books or promote them on your web site. You can start a little review service site (do not charge), where you'll review other authors' books and display the info on your site. This way, you'll not only bring them attention, but you'll be seen as a literary influence and you'll gain exposure through helping others. This will bring you attention and bring more visitors to your site. Make sure you are selling books directly from your site as well. Whatever you do, do not result to spamming. This will only turn people off. Remember, you're no longer just an author. You're the entire package.

You Can Never Do Too Much Promotion

As a self-published author, your book's audience is limited. No one knows who you are. Self-published books are not available in bookstores or libraries. Self-published authors' entire audience depends on their ability to self-promote online. Self-published authors waste too much time on conventional methods that do not work. Why have a book signing if your book isn't available in stores? Why spend money to put ads in magazines if your book isn't available in stores? The truth is that if a book isn't available by conventional methods, why advertise it in conventional ways? Most people buy books out the stores, contrary to popular belief. You have to make them want to order yours. You gotta have a good pitch to audiences and a good hook for reviewers. Be creative. Use the Internet as your primary source for exposure. Keep in mind that this is for long-term sales. Don't expect results overnight. It takes months and years to sell books. The object of the game is to keep promoting and keep your book on everyone's mind.

You must remember that long-term promotion is what sells whether a book is self-published or not.

3 Free Search Engine Optimization Tips
March 26, 2009 at 8:52 pm

Backlinks tips
Vesone Dean asked:

There are many free search engine optimization tips out there that can help you to organically rank higher on Google for any given piece of content. I've laid out three of my favorite ones below.

Backlinking

This is very important if you want to have any of your content rank high on search engines like google, and it applies to any piece of content, an article, a video, a blog post, Squidoo lens or hubpage. Backlinking is when you provide a link to a certain piece of content so that you can continue to funnel people through your content. For example, if you have an article that you wrone on ezine articles and you want that article to rank higher on the search engines you need to have backlink other content to that article so that it has more inbound links. If you create a video about a piece of the article you can link that video to the main article, and if you have another article that is similar to the article you want to rank then you link the smaller article to the main article. This creates inbound links to your main article which gives it the appearance of more importance according to Google.

Focus On Your Keywords

Free search engine optimization tip number two is to focus on your keywords but you want to be careful about step. You definitely want your keyword to be in the first few words of your title and the closer to the front the better, start your article with your keyword(s) in the first sentence and you want to sprinkle it in your content where it makes sense. If you put your keyword too many times in your content Google will penalize you for it and it won't rank high on the search engines. You also want to finish your content with your keyword as well because Google looks at content and reads it from left to right, so seeing your keyword(s) in the beginning of the title, first sentence in your content, and the last sentence in your content helps you rank higher on Google.

Do Your Research

The third and final free search engine optimization tip has to do with the second one. You want to make sure you're doing your research on these keywords, make sure that they're not overly saturated and you can easily rank with them. A good indication of whether or not a keyword is too saturated is by simply doing a Google search, look up the word and if it has over 100,000 hits it's going to be a little difficult to take over that keyword. Also make sure that when you look up your keyword you look it up without quotation marks and with them, when you add quotation marks to a word, "home business" for example, the search engine only looks for those two words grouped together.

If you start using these free search engine optimization techniques you'll start generating an abundance of leads based on your high organic rank in the search engines.

3 Easy, but CRUCIAL SEO Tips
March 26, 2009 at 5:54 pm

Keyword tips
Pj Germain asked:

Today I wanted to share with you a couple important tips for any reciprocal linking campaign in order to get the maximum results in your search engine rankings. These may seem obvious to some people, but I see far too many websites that don’t understand the following points.

Tip #1: Optimize the wrong keywords and you will likely never see results. Keyword research is very important to building traffic. A great resource for building keywords and finding niche phrases is located here: http://inventory.overture.com . Type in your main keyword and it will give you a list of related keywords and how many searches were performed on those keywords in the previous month. Generally, you don’t want to start off by going after the keywords that get hundreds of thousands of searches as you will be facing some pretty stiff competition. Instead go after the niche phrases that get 5,000-30,000 searches per month or so. And, these are far cheaper in the PPC campaigns such as Google Adwords.

Tip #2: Include those keywords in your anchor text. The anchor text is the text that is hyperlinked to your site, but actually shows on the webpage. I can show you how you can get thousands of incoming links almost instantly, plus earn $10 per month per referral.

The anchor text used should be the keywords that I want to be found when surfers run searches in the search engines.

Tip #3: Include your keywords in the title tag of your website. Use only your main keywords, don’t use filler words. Having a title such as Welcome To My Website will do you no good at all. Try separating key words with the “pipe” symbol, such as:

Affiliate Marketing | Tools | Coaching | Training

Losing the conjunctions and article words makes for a much stronger ranking for the search engines.

Offpage optimization is THE most important aspect of ranking well in ANY search engine, period. It’s critical you know this. For offpage optimization…

•You must have links pointing to your website. •These links must include your main keywords in the “anchor text”. •Try to get links from as many different IP Addresses as possible. Subdomains coming from the same IP are frowned upon and could to more harm than good!

You do not need to pay big bucks to get good search engine ranking. Just be patient though, it doesn’t happen overnight. Your efforts will be rewarded within a few months. And, remember, Content is King!

To your success!

Building Backlinks - 3 Great Ways to Build Backlinks to Your Site
March 26, 2009 at 5:09 pm

Backlinks
Jackie Lee asked:

If you are trying to make money online with your own website, you probably know the best free traffic comes from Google. What you might not know is how to get your site to show up in Google’s search results. The best way is building backlinks to your site. Here are 5 ways you can build quality backlinks to your site and move up the search engine results page.

Forums

Forums are a great way to build backlinks. It works like this: you find a forum on a topic related to your site. Once you have looked around, seen it is an active and friendly forum fill out your profile page.

Once you have your profile filled out, go to the signature area. Once there fill in a catchy sentence that includes your main keyword and make that the link to your site.

A signature link in a forum shows up each and every time you post to the forum. It will show up below your post automatically. This is a great way to get traffic. Not only will you be getting great backlinks to get more traffic from Google, but if you provide quality information on the forum people get to know you and like you. You will start getting traffic from the forum itself.

Article Marketing

This is the best way to get a lot of backlinks fast. You simply write a quality article filled with great information. At the bottom of your article you include your “resource box” this is a space you can include a keyword anchor text link to your site.

Then just submit your article to article directories. You will get links from the directories, but other online publishers will come and use your article in their content or newsletter. This gives you even more backlinks, from different places.

Blog Comments

You can find blogs on related topics. Stop by the blog and read the posts. If you have something to add to the conversation leave a comment.

When you leave a comment at a blog you can use the name field of the comment form for your keyword. Then fill in the rest of the information and your comment. This will give you an anchor text link back to your site. Make sure you look around and make sure the blog owner allows this. Some don’t and will consider it spamming. Most marketing blogs will allow you to do this, and many blog owners don’t care.

As you can see there are tons of ways you can create backlinks to your site. The trick is you have to do it. It can be much more fun to spend time creating content, and interacting in social networking communities for traffic, but if you want to get organic search traffic you are going to have to build backlinks. There’s no way around it.

Tips on Search Engine Optimization
March 26, 2009 at 3:51 pm

Backlinks tips
andy tao asked:

Once you have made your website you're still far away from making a successful site. You need to market it to the right audience in order to get a regular flow of traffic to give it authority other the rest.

The first step is to get valuable back links which will boost your sites performance in the major search engines. When getting back links make sure they have certain relevance as it will cut down on the time and effort needed to make it successful, it is better to get 10 PR 4-5 links rather then hundreds of PR 0-1. The higher the sites PR the more authority it will pass down making the search engine think your site is better. You can also get additional boosts if you manage to get any .edu or .gov sites linking to you as these are not available to the general public.

Make sure you put the research in and find the best niche and keywords to target, find one that is not heavily saturated as the competition will be harder to fight. If you can target a specific small undeveloped niche then you're on a winner if you go about it in the right way. Make sure that all your pages have unique titles and descriptions and more importantly, unique content! If you copy and paste content, you will be severely punished and your pages will most likely go into the supplemental results pages, which means it will have no chance of outranking its competition.

If you're no good at writing unique interesting content it's strongly advised that you pay a professional as you will benefit in the long run, if you pay money upfront in the development stages of your website, you will get it back once it has becomes established.

There are many ways in which you can make your site successful, read up on the tips and tricks in many webmaster forums/sites to ensure you are doing everything the right way. The more effort you put in at the early stages, the less you will have to do once it's indexed which will make your life a whole lot easier. Be sure to keep your site updated with fresh unique content on a daily basis and you will do just fine! Once you get the hang of how the search engines work you will be able to outrank your competition for any keyword. The basic principle is to get many back links to your site with the keyword as the anchor text of the link.

Tips and Tricks for Keyword Research
March 26, 2009 at 1:45 pm

Keyword tips
Kevin Sinclair asked:

Do you have a small business or a work from home business? If so, would you like to find a way to generate more business and in turn increase your overall profits? Well if you are then a great way to establish this would be to do a good amount of keyword research and to apply it to your articles and website pages.

However, there are quite a lot of people who are not even aware of the importance of good keywords and hence they miss out on potential business. If you do not want to pay a lot of money for a professional to do search engine optimization for you and to sort out the keywords, then you will have to do your own keyword research.

What is Keyword Research?

Basically keyword research is where you research everything to do with your business and then you add certain keywords that will help to promote your business website. A lot of people fail when it comes to the keywords that they use, or they may use keywords that are too competitive and without the traffic, the website will simply not be as popular as its competitors.

How to Conduct Your Research

You should really start by evaluating what your business is all about and what your business offers. For instance, what products or services do you offer to clients and customers and what do you want your website or business to be known for? What you should do is brainstorm any ideas that you have and think carefully about what you want people to type into the search engine to reach your website. You need to think that every service or product that you offer is a potential keyword. So generally just look at what you think will be a good keyword to use.

A great way to do some great research is to ask customers or clients for any feedback on their website searching habits. Find out what keywords they tend to type into search engines relating to your services or to the competition. A great way to do this is to offer people a discount or a special offer for completing a survey.

Something else that may be a great idea is to research any competition that is in the same field and try to see what keywords they have chosen. Try to research quite a few different competitors and see how well they are doing with their keywords in the search engines. By doing this, it may help to give you some inspiration and to find keywords that you may not have previously thought of.

A great way to find some great keywords is to use a keyword research tool as they help to measure how many times a certain keyword has been searched by visitors.

Something you should keep in mind is that to go for the most popular keyword is something that can be hard to pull off. It is a good idea to strike a good balance so that you are still being competitive and you can bring in a good source of visitors to your webpage.

As you can see, keyword research is important and there is more to it than just adding keywords here and there. You need to study the competitors and look at what you think will be the best keywords to draw people in. You should look at the kind of things which people type into search engines to bring up websites like the one that you have. By having the right amount of knowledge, this can help you to create a website with great search engine optimization, allowing more people to access your site.

Website Traffic Is The Lifeline Of Any Internet Business
March 26, 2009 at 8:50 am

Traffic
Todd Ash asked:

If you are like most people, you will spend countless hours trying to BuildTraffic to your website. Did you know that over 80% of website traffic is the result of search engines? If you want to increase the number of visitors to your website it is crucial that you have a top search engine position.

As you may already know, getting a good search engine ranking is next to impossible without optimization. Just submitting your website to the search engines will not get you a top search engine ranking. You also need to properly optimize your website in order to increase your search engine ranking. Once you have achieved a good search engine position only then will you start to see thousands of people visiting your website each and every day.

Some companies offer advertising schemes that, in return for increased web traffic (visitors), pay for screen space on the site. Sites also often aim to increase their web traffic through inclusion on search engines and through Search engine optimization.

Anyone knows that once you stop paying for your pay per click results, you will stop getting website traffic. Articles on the other hand always stay on the pages of a high traffic website if added. This is like opening a shop in a busy shopping mall. You get more targeted website visitors this way quite easily. Once readers read the targeted articles and then click through to your website, they are in the mood to read whatever offers that you can sell and you tend to make more money this way as they treat you as an expert if they like your article. Thus in article marketing, you get traffic on a continuing basis and not just when you pay for it.

Website traffic is a graph of the number of people visiting your site. The Internet is a strange place. However, there is a lot more going on. A web site sees a wide variety of traffic, and only a portion of it has a person sitting on the other end. There are thousands of companies building tools that visit and gather information from websites. Search engines are similar. They visit and cache content on a list of websites (Google claims 3.3 billion pages). If something is found, they contact you and offer their services. It’s all pretty clever.

The basis of Search Engine Optimization ( SEO ) today is based on PageRank and website traffic. The major search engines today looks at the number of inbound links from targeted website pointing to your website. This means that if you have a cooking website, the more links to your website from cooking websites the better.

Article marketing works in the same way as if your business is on health for instance and you write health articles, your publishers are going to be health websites and your PageRank due to the number of inbound links pointing at your website will increase. Your search engine rankings will also start climbing and you will start getting more targeted website traffic and make more money.

Some links to your site will come naturally if your site has good content. Most businesses augment those natural links with well placed links in quality directories. Quality directories market to bring traffic to their sites. That traffic can easily search the categories to find the exact business they are looking for and follow the link to your site. Marketing online is about giving potential clients as many paths to your website as possible so they can find you.

Can you find where your web site is located on any of the “Big Three”? If not, then your small business is lost in cyberspace and you are not getting the increased web site traffic that you need to grow your business. You need to increase your web traffic. You do NOT need a flashy web site to increase your web site trafficnor should you have one if that is your specific intent.

One way to use free traffic exchanges to your advantage is to join a few at first, and see if your sales pick up. If your sales aren’t doing well, then test out a few more. When you do find a few traffic exchanges that appear to be generating sales for you, then narrow those down until you find the one, or two that are working.

Now concentrate your efforts on those because they’re the ones you want. At least for now anyway. Things may change, so keep an eye on your campaigns and if sales seem to be falling off, then it might be time to change your offer or find another traffic exchange that could pick your profits up again.

Listen carefully when someone tells you how much traffic their website handles. It used to be common to talk about “hits”. A hit is any file that gets downloaded from the server. A single page often requires 20 or more different files and thus would register 20 hits. If a single visitor clicks on 10 pages it would register as 200 hits. It sounds low when you realize that most of that traffic probably comes from the 100 advertisers.

It all boils down to one thing. The more web site traffic you can gain the more important you become to the engines. The more important you become to the search Google, Yahoo and MSN, the more you will find that increasing your web site traffic will be easier to do.

It’s a fact that a website needs traffic to exist. Popunder traffic helps you increase traffic to your site and increased website traffic means increased sales. Popunder website traffic is a widely accepted form of website promotion. 11

Getting traffic to a website is fundamental to the success of any online business.

Generating large volumes of traffic to go to your website essentially means that you have a lot of visitors going to your website. But are they converting to sales for you If you are just generating traffic, this does not necessarily mean your conversion rate is high.

In considering all a webmaster’s options to increase website traffic, you have to consider what website traffic really means — and how you get it. When someone searches for a website to help with a problem, that person uses a search engine like Google.

Every webmaster dreams of getting so much traffic from the search engines that it overloads the circuits of their web hosting provider’s network.
