§ First come, first served. If you have image links in your navigation bar, also include the text links. As, search engine robots will follow the first link they find to any particular page, make sure the text links show up first in the source code.

§ Be an alien: seek a business address in one of the countries like the UK and Canada. For, these have many directories for websites of companies based in such countries.

§ Bold is gold: Use the tags such as, . Mostly, around some of the keywords on every page. Remember NOT TO use them in all places the keyword appears. Less is more in such cases.

§ Anchor text: never overdo the anchor text. Only if You don’t want all your inbound links to look similar. Since it look like automation and Google really frowns it.

§ Exchange Articles: You’re aware of commonly useless link exchanges. Article exchanges are similar to link exchanges, only being much more useful. They make public your article on the top ten pudding pop flavors in Viet Nam, with a link back to your site. Thus, both the parties get high quality links.

Don't forget Submit your site to the search engines and too, all by yourself. As using submission service or submission software could penalized or even banned sometimes. Submit only one time. No need to submit it every alternative week. Since, a nice link trail, will get your entire site indexed.

The Comprehensive Guide to Getting Website Traffic in Today's World - a General Overview
March 30, 2009 at 9:28 am

Traffic
yjulaidan asked:

In this article I will list the many ways and methods to get traffic to a website in a general comprehensive overview. The purpose is to highlight the variety regardless of all other variables. In other words, the only criteria here is pure listing not cost efficiency or traffic effectiveness. I think it is important to have the big picture in mind before starting to devise a plan to generate traffic to any website. Why? Because not all websites are the same. One traffic generating method can only work with certain types of websites and another method can only work with other types of websites. For example, the methods used to generate traffic to an e-commerce website might not be as effective in generating traffic to an information nonprofit website.

Generating website traffic can be classified into two big groups based on the cost incurred. One is paid even though as cheap as few cents per visitor and the other one is free! As good as it might sound; generating free traffic is harder than and not as effective as paid traffic generation. This is pretty natural because in general, the companies that specialize in the service of generating traffic to websites have breakthrough technologies and experienced teams of specialists with the only purpose of generating quality targeted traffic for their customers. I'm not trying to degrade free traffic as it is important to reduce costs, but in general paid traffic still supersedes free traffic in terms of quality and quantity.

Paid traffic isn't affordable by all advertisers, but still it offers a lot of peace of mind and results. Here is a list of the most prominent paid traffic generation methods:-

1-    Pay per click (PPC):- Known by all yet most hated for sucking cents and dollars out of advertisers pockets without as much satisfying results. Google being the king of PPC has been making life harder and harder for PPC advertisers by imposing more and more criteria to determine which ads get higher positions in PPC ads. Believe it or not, if your website isn't optimized enough for Google, your ad will not get better positions even if your bid is higher than others! This proves the point that even though PPC is disappointing many advertisers, there is actually a logic that you have to figure out to get better results from your PPCs. There are techniques to get better results from your PPC campaigns using low and pocket friendly bids, which is going to be a topic of another article that I'm going to write about.

2-    Paid SEO services: - SEO is a short for Search Engine Optimization. In short it is about optimizing the design and the coding of a website so it can get better free ranking in search engines. This is referred to as organic ranking. Even though the end result is free better ranking, still SEO companies charge tons of money to make a website search engine optimized. I will address SEO in more detail in future articles.

3-    Paid targeted 100% opt-in e-mail blasts: - There are advertising companies that have huge lists of 100% opt-in subscribers. 100% opt-in means that every one of their subscribers has agreed to receive promotional e-mails from them on the topics of their choice and this is how it is targeted. This method has proven its effectiveness, but there are a lot of fake companies out there that claim 100% opt-in, but actually have much lower opt-in percentages or even not at all. This is important because you don't want to pay for a campaign that ends up in the junk or spam folder of the users e-mail. Be careful and deal with the reputable ones only.

4-    Banners and image based advertising: - this form has lost its effectiveness over the years, but still is used by many advertisers. Find the ones that work like PPCs, which means you don't get charged for impressions…only clicks.

5-    Guaranteed visitors schemes: - These are companies that promise you a number of targeted traffic for a fee. Usually they will tell you that they get the traffic from expired domains and traffic redirected from other sites. Trust me, for the most part, these are scams so beware. It could work well for those who have gambling or sex related websites because they can't use PPCs to promote their websites.

6-    Video advertising: - A new and growing advertising trend that Google is pursuing heavily. Yes I know that you can post videos in YouTube for free, but I'm talking about a new wave of video advertising that is very similar to PPC. It will be more popular soon so watch for it.

Now for the fun and most pleasing part….free traffic! Getting results from free traffic requires much more work and time compared to paid traffic. Even though these methods generate free traffic, I see a lot of courses and e-books sold for hundreds and even thousands of dollars to teach people these methods. So much for the free part! Luckily, you will be able to get an overview of these free traffic methods for free today. I'm not going to explain each in detail, but will be the topics of some of my future articles:-

1-    Article marketing: - You write good articles, post them in article directories with links pointing to your website. People read the article, like what they read and visit your website. I will address it more in future articles.

2-    Website directories: - these are directories that organize websites in categories which makes it easier for people to find what they are looking for. Even though all will let you submit your link for free, a lot of them offer a "premium" listing for a fee which is worth paying if they have high search engine ranking.

3-    Video sites like YouTube, Yahoo and MSN videos: - don't underestimate its power! Find at least 10 more video sites and submit your videos to them. But how can you advertise your website with video? Get a screen capture video maker. There are free ones online and sold. My advice is to buy one for the quality of videos as free ones produce low quality videos. Make a small presentation about your website on your own screen, capture it on video and upload it to video sites…that's it! It will be helpful if you use a basic video editing software like windows movie maker to add your URL on the bottom of the video.

4-    Forums and blogs: - This works in two ways. Either you own a blog or forum and generate your own community using quality content and funnel this traffic to your website. The other is to post comments with links pointing to your website in high ranking blogs and forums.

5-    RSS feeds: - you can set up an RSS feed linking to the topics and issues in your website and syndicate it. More on this on future articles.

6-    Groups and newsletters: - Can be found in all major search engines and internet service providers like Google, Yahoo, AOL and MSN. Establish relations and spread the word about your websites. Avoid spamming and misbehaving!

7-    Online free classifieds: - There are so many. The only problem is that your ads in these classifieds need re-updating every 1 or 2 days which is very time consuming.

8-    Social bookmarking: - These are sites where people leave sort of brief descriptions about their websites, blogs, forums etc. and a link to visit.

9-    Social media/interaction websites or what is called web 2.0:- My Space, Face book, twitter and Squidoo are all examples of this new internet trend. Basically they are all about an online gathering point where people express themselves and share knowledge, experiences, hobbies, passions, pictures, videos, music and much more. Why not use it to get traffic to your website?

10-  Going viral: - Don't ever think that this is not important because this is number 10. It can be the most powerful traffic generating tool if you know how to use it. An example would be giving away a free report with lots of information and your website links inside. Give it to as many people as you can and in turn they give it away. This can continue forever and never stop. That's why they call it viral and is very powerful!

If you ask me which methods are the best and should be used to get traffic, I would say all of them. The only problem is that we have limited resources and I mean time and money. I suggest using a mix of free and paid traffic. The mix to be determined according to what type of website is promoted and traffic objectives. Watch out for more detailed articles on the subject.

Copyright note: - if you want to use this article for your content, you have to state the author and include any links within the article or the resource box. If any of these are removed, it will be a violation of copyright and legal action can be exercised.

What Are Backlinks and How Do I Get Them?
March 30, 2009 at 9:24 am

Backlinks
Shawn Hickman asked:

There are basically two aspects to SEO, “on page” & “off page” optimization.

“On Page” SEO is easy because it’s totally under your control. It’s simply a case of making sure you have optimized your web pages correctly.

OK, so there is a bit more to it than that, like keyword research, keyword density & frequency, which html tags to use, making sure your site/pages are W3 Compliant, using relative/absolute internal linking structures to feed the pagerank where it’s most effective, using titles and descriptions that encourage people to click through from the SERP’s etc.

But essentially, once you know how to do all that, it’s not difficult to get it right for all your pages/sites.

It’s also less important in the long run than getting sufficient links to your site/pages from other sites.

Getting links to your site is fundamental to getting visitors, and without visitors all the time, effort and money invested in getting your site up and running, and looking “nice”, is irrelevant.

No Visitors = No Point!

So links are essential to the health of your site, and indeed your business, but all links are not equal in value to your site.

Reciprocal links will help, but they are far less effective than one way backlinks, i.e. links from another site where you don’t have to link back to them. These “One Way” backlinks will give your site a far greater boost in the search engine results and bring you more traffic, providing of course that you have chosen good (relevant) keywords for your links.

There are many ways of getting these powerful one way backlinks, but most you will have no control over the anchor text used (i.e. keywords) in the link, which means their “power” in unfocused and therefore of less use to you in achieving the targeted keyword results you are looking for.

For example, submitting your site to website directories can be a very effective way of picking up some high quality one way links from high PR sites, but you will seldom be able to choose the keywords/anchor text used for the link, often ending up with the site name as the link.

This is not a waste of time, as the Pagerank passed to your site will, with the correct internal linking structure, be passed on to your sites internal pages, helping them to rank better for their targeted keywords.

So how can you get highly targeted one way links?

It’s fairly common for webmasters to now buy or “rent” links to their sites through service like Text-Link-Ads, and these services will allow you to choose the anchor text, but they are far from cheap. A link from a PR 8 site can easily cost $150+ per month. In fact there is now a business model emerging based on building sites simply to sell these kind of links (see LazyGitMarketing).

Google has also publicly stated that they disapprove of this practice and are actively seeking to downgrade the value of such “paid links”, although personally it seems like a valid form of advertising to me, but maybe I just don’t have Google’s wisdom in these matters. ;)

As always in business, there are entrepreneurs who have identified this need in the market and a whole new branch of linking services are popping up offering new solutions for one way backlinks.

I’ve been testing some of them out over the last few months and have found a couple that have had a significant positive effect on the sites I used them for.

The Backlink Solution BacklinkSolution

This first solution is a monthly subscription that provides a network of high quality blog sites for you to post comments on, including a link to your site(s) using your chosen anchor text.

Note: As you make the link yourself, you can also link to internal pages on your site to improve their rankings as well, which you can’t do with directory submissions.

It is a manual process, but is easy enough that it can be outsourced fairly cheaply.

The Pagerank of these blogs varies, but the links provided are very “natural” in appearance to the search engines, and as you can post unique relevant content on market related blogs, the links are highly relevant. You are also limited as to how many blogs you can post to each month, to ensure that the links grow naturally over time, rather than all in one go.

Three Backlinks Way Links 3WayBackLinks

The internet marketing market is highly competitive, so it’s hardly surprising that another service with a different twist has popped up from this market.

This is an automated “three way links” system, where you link to site A, which then links to site B, which then links back to you. Whilst this is arguably not as powerful as true “one way backlinks”, it’s still a significant step above one way “reciprocal” linking that is the more traditional method used by the majority of webmasters.

The process is also automated for you, making it very hands off. You can submit up to 20 sites with just one account and you can specify three different anchor texts to be used as the links for each sites, making sure you don’t incur any penalties for over use of just one text link keyword or phrase.

It is also set up to gradually build up the links over time to make it all appear very natural to the search engines.

Your Own Authority Blog BetterThanLinks

There is one final service that I’ve found to be very useful, although it is more ideal for people with multiple sites to promote.

The service gives you your own blog on an existing high PR authority site. The site has 833,039 backlinks listed in Yahoo and gets spidered several times a day by all of the major search engines. For example in June 2007 Googlebot visited it 14,470 times and Yahoo Slurp 52,436 times, so you can see why it’s an regarded as an “authority” site.

I have used this to link to brand new sites and had them indexed by Google within 24 hours, so it’s a great way of getting a new site in to the SE’s quickly, and the link weight will obviously also help any site linked to.

As a side note, I’ve also found that my blog on this site can get fairly significant traffic itself when I take the time to keyword optimize the posts, which is always a nice added benefit.

I haven’t traded reciprocal links for any of my sites in almost two years, you can probably see why I don’t need to. Using powerful new linking tools and services like these means I am able to take total control over the “off page” SEO linking strategies for my sites in the same way as I do for the “on page” SEO factors.

Wouldn’t you like to do have the same level of control over your sites search engine rankings?

The 5 Best SEO Tips You Will Ever Read
March 30, 2009 at 4:59 am

Seo tips
Josh Spaulding asked:

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be an SEO “guru” to rank well in the Search Engines. There are only a handful of things you need to do in order to rank well. Those who concentrate on what's important will quickly pass those who spend their time worrying about all of the little things that may or may not increase their rankings!

Below you will find the 5 most important SEO factors:

1: Links - The quantity and quality of the links on the WWW which point to your site and it’s subpages is the #1 off-page SEO factor! When it comes to top Search Engine rankings the most influential factor really is the incoming links! Submit articles and do selective link exchanges to give your site a push-start and let your good content (below) bring it to the top!

2: Title and META Tags - The title and META description of each individual page is the most important on-page SEO factor! Craft your title and description in a way that is both Search Engine friendly (contains your primary keyword) and user friendly (convinces them to click.) Remember, if it is full of keywords and not user friendly, your rankings will not matter, as no one will click. If it is user friendly, but doesn’t contain your main keyword, you will not rank as high as you would if it had your keyword (in most cases.)

3: Internal Linking - A good internal linking structure will not only show the SE’s which of your pages are more important, it can actually increase the rankings of those pages! Use the rel=”nofollow” attribute on links that don’t need any “link juice” like your contact pages, about pages, affiliate links and duplicated pages.

4: Quality Content - Quality content will bring in “natural” links. If you’re spitting out low-quality, rehashed content, you won’t impress anyone. If you do not impress anyone your job will be much harder, as you’ll have to manually build all of your links.

5: Keyword Density doesn’t Matter - “Keyword Density” is no longer important. With the implementation of “Latent Semantic Indexing” (LSI) most major Search Engines do not rank a page higher because it contains a keyword a set number of times. Just write natural content and good things will come!

So to recap, build solid incoming links, compose a good title and META description, create a solid internal linking structure, write quality content and don’t worry about keyword density!

This is the strategy that has worked for me in order to obtain front-page ranking for many competitive terms and I’m confident it will for you as well!

Web Site Promotion Tips
March 30, 2009 at 4:56 am

Promote tips
John Dixon asked:

Here is a list of things you should do:

Use the ’title’ tags to add a title to each web page. Titles should be no more than 60 characters (including spaces) and should contain primary keywords once or twice. The title should be contained within the head tags.

Directly below the title, and wrapped inside ‘description’ tags, create a keyword rich description of up to 250 characters (including spaces).

Create a site map or, better still, create one and submit it to Google.

Use plenty of keywords in the body of each web page, and use the keywords multiple times. A keyword density of between 5% and 20% is ideal.

Use between 150 and 250 words on each web page.

Put the most important keywords towards the top of each page.

Put keywords in image ALT tags.

Put keywords inside heading, bold, or italic tags to emphasize them.

Put keywords inside bulleted lists.

Include keywords in hyperlinks.

Use long hyperlinks and include keywords in them.

Place keywords throughout the whole site.

…and a list of things you should not do:

Do not use JavaScript to generate navigation buttons etc, as search engines will probably ignore it.

Avoid using frames.

Avoid using Flash.

Avoid putting text inside images.

Do not use images for navigation.

Avoid having dangling pages that do not link to anywhere else.

Avoid restructuring your site if you can. If you have to, make sure that you use permanent redirects so that search engine spiders can find the new locations of your web pages.

Do not pack your web pages with keywords. If you have a page that contains the same keyword hundreds of times, search engines won’t take too kindly to it.

Affordable Book Promotion Offerings Online For Authors And Publishers
March 30, 2009 at 3:37 am

Promote tips
Stacey Jane Miller asked:

Without media attention, your book will languish on bookshelves, in a warehouse, or in your garage. Or, in the case of print-on-demand books, your words will languish - unprinted and unbound - inside a computer unless you let potential readers know about your work. Your challenge is to let potential readers know about your expertise, and your title, so that they’ll be motivated to buy your book. But how can you get your message directly to your intended audience?

The media can help, but you have to approach the right people at the right media outlets in the right way if you want them to make their radar screen. And you have to make your pitch stand out from the hundreds of other pitches that producers and editors receive each week or, in some cases, each day. That’s a challenge, even for book promotion professionals.

Admittedly, promoting books is an endeavor that takes time and experience. If you can afford to hire a book promotion firm, then go for it. Or if your publishing company is offering you a book promotion campaign as part of your publishing contract, by all means, take it. Otherwise, the dilemma is this: how can you grab the media’s attention and get just a small share of it for your book - when your budget is far more limited than your willingness to learn and your eagerness to succeed?

There are a lot of book promotion information online, and just as you’d expect, a great deal of it is free. Book promotion blogs are available, and a quick search will turn up many that have been around for awhile and have established a respectable number of visitors. You’ll also find several traditional and eBooks about book promotion that convey the art and science of promoting books, and even many that reveal “trade secrets” that can make all the difference for book sales. Additionally, you’ll also find book promotion tips and tools online - many of them low-cost or no-cost — if you look in the search engines.

Examples of book promotion tips you’ll find online are:

• Watch the calendar. Seasons and holidays (the big occasions, such as the Fourth of July, and the more esoteric ones, such as Grandparents Day or Nutrition Month are predictable, and if you figure out ways to tie your messages into various months of the calendar in advance, you’ll be a sought-after expert all the time.

• Contact your alma mater’s media outlets. Every college and university (and just about every high school) in the country has a magazine, Web site, or at least a newsletter in which they can announce alumni news.

• Keep track of your media “hits” so that you can see patterns about which pitches worked and why. Build on those successes, and use them as a blueprint for future pitches.

• There’s usually more than one decision maker at a media outlet. If one producer or editor rejects your story pitch, try another media decision maker at the same outlet - but do so tactfully.

• Send out books. No matter what your budget, you have to send out some books (and probably more books than you’d like) to score interviews. Books and postage are relatively inexpensive compared to losing book promotion opportunities.

Book promotion is something of a moving target in that techniques change all the time. One day, successful authors are blogging their way to success. The next day, the same authors are podcasting to reach potential readers or using social networks to win “friends” who, ultimately, will buy their book. Even if you’re working with a book promotion specialist, there’s likely more that you can do without getting in the “expert’s” way.

In fact, authors are the best experts on their books, while book publicists expertise lies in book publicity and in keeping up with the latest and greatest book promotion techniques. But let’s face it. Who has a better grasp of which messages, and which media outlets, will best reach the executives who need to know about your management book: a book promotion specialist or the CEO who wrote the book? And who knows the hearts, and the minds, of those who read romance novels better than the novelist who writes for that audience?

So, this year, make a point of surfing the Web to find new sources of book promotion tools, techniques, and tricks. It will allow you to compete with all the other authors and publishers who are out there, every day, gaining visibility for their books. And it will keep you working toward the goal of establishing, and maintaining, a media presence so that you can sell books, bring visitors to your Web site, enhance your credibility, and build your brand.

Adwords Keyword Research Tools & Tips to Find Profitable Keywords
March 29, 2009 at 10:51 pm

Keyword tips
Davion W asked:

Adwords keyword research tools are valuable and essential to anyone using Google Adwords to promote their websites. Most people think that such keyword research tools are only capable of pulling out huge keyword lists to be used in their Adwords pay-per-click (PPC) campaign. Little do they know that these tools are also effective in digging out useful information about keywords that could be used for other PPC campaigns and even for search engine optimization. Let's learn several useful Adwords keyword research tips and why Adwords keyword research tools are so powerful in reaping lists of profitable keywords.

One quick keyword research tip before starting a PPC campaign is to build a keyword list of at least 1000 keywords. Keyword research is necessary. Brainstorm and start off with a few keywords, perhaps 5 main keywords associated with the product. You may wish to use several free online Adwords keyword research tools such as:

1. Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool

Search for the main keywords and copy down the lists of related-keywords in a Notepad file. Dig 1 more level into each related keyword to find variations/extensions of the root keywords. These keywords are what we call long-tails. Example, “best online Adwords keyword research tools” is a long tail from the root keyword phrase “Adwords keyword research tools”.

2. Google Search Engine

Find and visit each of the top 10 search engine results for your targeted main keywords. Go to your internet browser under "View", click on "Page Source" to display the meta-keywords. Copy them. These are golden keywords and phrases that expert webmasters have painstakingly researched. They are yours free.

3. Google Adwords Keyword Research Tool

This is the web address https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal. This free Adwords keyword research tool is a handy tool. Make use of the “Site-Related” tab to make interesting discovery of keywords targeted by top ranking websites. You would be pleasantly surprised at some of the keywords which you would never have thought of.

The second Adwords keyword research tip is a sneaky. It is like an espionage mission – I will teach you how to spy on competitors who are advertising in Adwords. With your keyword list, key in one main keyword and take note of the websites that show up in the Adwords text ad on the right in Google. Repeat this for all the 5 main keywords and see if there is a common website that shows up all the time.

Target this website to spy on. Open a Microsoft Excel document and list down all the keywords in your list that this competing website shows up for. Observe the list of keywords over a period of 1 – 4 weeks and see if this website still appears for each of the keyword. Eliminate those which dropped out and retain those that it is still targeting. There is good reason to do so as there is a likelihood that these are profitable keywords/phrases that continue to make money for the website. This explains why it is paying big bucks to stay within top 5 in the Adwords for these keywords.

Did you know that some expert marketers are employing these secret Adwords keyword research tips and tricks to earn outrageous amounts of money? Not only so, they are using Adwords keyword research tools to automate these otherwise manual and tedious tasks. Imagine how painful and time-zapping to do this for one product, not to mention repeating them to dozens of websites and products. Learn how you can be like them and start using secret keyword research tips from my free ebook which you can download at my blog. You would also discover which Adwords keyword research tools can explode your earnings almost instantly.

Five Google Adword Tips
March 29, 2009 at 7:53 pm

Keyword tips
Joseph Regan asked:

Five tips on how to make your Google Adword experience more rewarding.

Tip One

Try to think like your potential customers. If you were interested in the product, service, or information found at your site, what words would you search on? Better yet ask your friends or family to tell you what they would “google” if they were interested in your particular product, service or information. Sometimes the best keywords can be found by not over thinking about your keywords.

Tip Two

Choose good keywords. Lots of people are spending good money on clicks of bad keywords. Meaning the keyword does not relate to the product, service or information found at your site. Then what happens? The person gets to your site and they leave because it’s not what they are looking for. You can relate can’t you? How many times have you searched for things at Google or other search engines and left the site because the site has nothing to do with the keyword you typed? Each time that happens some one is paying for the click. Don’t let that be you.

Tip Three

Compete against your self. Write ads, find the one with the best CTR (Click Through Rate), then write other ads and try to beat the previous high CTR ad. Keep doing it until you find the best ad(s). Try to use your keywords in your ad, Google likes that because it makes your ad more relevant.

Tip Four

Small changes equal big results. When writing ads, try change subtle things in the ad and test using Tip Three. Sometimes switching one word for another, capitalization, the position of certain text or other small changes makes a huge difference. Sometimes the change can be one small word. So don’t throw away an ad before tweaking it a bit and testing with Tip Three.

Tip Five

Track your results carefully. Google has excellent tracking but you may also look for a third party tracking services to dissect your Adword results. Try googleing “Adword Tracking” that should keep you busy for a while. Keep up to date on new trends which may affect your ads both negatively and positively. Make changes to your ads to reflect these trends

Google Adwords is a great tool but like any tool you must follow the instructions to use it properly. There is a ton of information on the Google Adword site so make sure you first stop is there. It is possible to loose a lot of money with Adwords, but you can also make a lot of money or get’s lots of traffic to your site with Adwords if used properly. Also read all you can about Google Adwords and apply what you’ve learned and back up your changes with your monitoring tools. Document your changes to see what works. Then when you 've got Google figured out apply what you’ve learned to the other PPC search engines, like Yahoo, MSN, ASK, etc. Good Luck!

So without further hesitation, ladies and gentlemen; your Top 5:

SEO Tip #1 - Use Proper Headings! Using page headings for your website pages is not only great for a reader to understand what the topic of the page is about (think newspaper headings), but they are also very useful for Search Engines.  Just like a person, search engines will determine the relevance of a page based on the page heading.  Therefore it places more importance on words between HTML heading tags such as , , etc.  Wherever possible, always use headings and sub-headings in your website’s pages.

SEO Tip #2 - Start Optimizing Your META Tags: The HTML META tags have decreased in importance in some Search Engine’s ranking factors, but not all of them.  At the same time, your META description tag is used as a short description beneath the Title link shown in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).  Make sure that you optimize your description tag to contain your keyword of choice and a clear call-to-action.

SEO Tip #3 - Start Optimizing Your Page Title: Your page title (the HTML tag should not only contain your keyword, but you should also clearly state a call-to-action.  Again, your Title is displayed in the SERPs and is what the web search will click on to get to your page.  Entice them!

SEO Tip #4 - Forget About Doorway Pages! Doorway pages are a thing of the past.  They used to be used to show a company logo and maybe and Enter Website link before the user can get into the website.  Not only are doorway pages annoying and harmful for your SEO, they are also annoying for your visitors.

and lastly…

SEO Tip #5 - Make Sure Your Website Has a Site Map: Sitemaps can go a long way for a website.  They provide a ton of links for your website to make it easy for the search engine to crawl.  Site Maps are also great for the end user.  Just think about how many times you’ve gone to a website and couldn’t find what you were looking for until you clicked on that Site Map link at the bottom of the page.  Search Engines love links and so do user!

So there you have it, your Top 5. SEO is extremely important and should be added to every company’s marketing strategy.  If you are not sure why you need SEO, find out why you need to optimize your website.

Until next time…

Secure High Pagerank Back Links with a Bidding Directory
March 29, 2009 at 2:24 pm

Pageranks
Georg Rosenbrock asked:

A link bidding directory provides a unique way in securing high PR links to your site. It places you in a position to determine the page rank you require of your backlinks. As all internet marketers know, the quality and page rank of your back links have a large influence on your own pagerank.

The Search Engines constantly seek for high quality websites and one of the criteria used is site popularity. Good links provide this information. After all if lots of people consider a site worthwhile, they will provide a link for their customers to that site. It is a matter of providing the best solutions to your clients. Higher page ranking sites enjoy higher placing in search engine searches and provide more traffic.

A bidding directory lists links in order of the highest amount bid for that listing. The link leader, i.e. the listing with the highest bid appears on all pages of the directory. This provides many links back to the listed site.

The top links are listed on the home page of the bidding directory, and also occupy the top spots in their particular category. The top links thus get a link with the pagerank of the bidding directory! On most other directories, even if you purchased a featured listing, you have no control over the placement of your listing, and you could be placed on a page with a very low pagerank.

Purchasing a listing in a bidding directory is cheap compared to other paid directories. You can always add to your bid at any time thus controlling your position on that directory. For this reason it might be worthwhile to list on lower ranking bidding directories to start with. A top position won’t cost you much, and as the pagerank and popularity of the bidding directory increases you can add to your bid a little at a time to remain at the top.

The internet provides for fierce competition. It is thus not surprising that a bidding directory can also provide a lot of competition. This can be viewed in two ways. Firstly a healthy environment in which to judge your competition and see who your real competitors are. Secondly that it might become expensive to keep the number one position. If you consider that the top 10 links normally appear on the homepage of the bidding directory, this provides you with some leeway in determining how far up the ladder you are willing to go.

A listing may not be in the top 10, but could still be a category leader providing a good page rank anyway. This allows an opportunity to bid for the top positions in a specific category, without too much concern about the overall top positions of the bidding directory. This is very useful if you operate in a specific niche and want to be associated with the niche leaders.

Considering the way in which the bidding directories are structured, they are a good alternative to natural links. Especially for sites starting out where good natural links take time to develop. Then the developing of natural links is also not guaranteed even with more mature sites. In short a listing with a bidding directory could provide a good pagerank and valuable referral traffic to your site.

Some Easy SEO Tips to Improve Your Rankings
March 29, 2009 at 1:19 pm

Seo tips
markin bent asked:

Here are a few search engine optimization or SEO tips to improve your rankings, I have found these in just about every good SEO course I’ve seen and have benefited from implementing these tactics. I also wanted to list them here on the blog because I seem to always forget what they are or where to find it. So you will also be able to bookmark it and come back anytime you need it or forget what was what.

1)    Page Title - This is probably one of the most important things you can optimize for your site. The key to remember is to use your keyword phrase that you want to rank for in your page title and keep it as close to the beginning of the title as possible. For more details go to: www.seo-prediction.com.Google only reads the first 65 characters, so make sure you don’t go over it because searches won’t be able to read your full title.

Besides using the keyword phrase that you are trying to rank that page for, you also need to make your title interesting as you need to get people to click on it.

2) Page Description - This is another way to include your main keyword phrase your trying to rank for and allows you to improve on getting the searcher to click to go to your site. You only need one or two sentences worth, under 150 characters.

Another good reason for creating your own description is that if you don’t have one, search engines will try to grab some content from your site that normally isn’t very good for attracting visitors. Also if you make changes to your site, it some times grabs old information that is no longer on your site. For can visit to: www.huge-niche-keywords.com.Duplicate Content - The main points to keep in mind is to make sure your content is at least 50% different, keep in mind that the template can be counted as duplicate content depending on how your site is structured.

Another way that duplicate content can become a big problem and more noticeable is in your title tag or description tag. For each page of your site you should have different title tags, description tags and keywords. Keywords don’t mean as much as they use to but it is still a good idea to have 5 or 10 that describe your page as some of the smaller search engines still pick them up.

4) Keyword Research & Optimization - First of all, before you can do any of the other optimization tactics you need to know what keywords you are going to be optimizing your site or a specific page on your site for. Once you know what keywords your trying to rank for, everything becomes much easier.

If your writing an article or content on your site, include your keyword phrase in the first paragraph, the last paragraph and depending on how much content you write, mix your keyword phrase in a few more times. To put more emphasis on your keyword phrase, you can use bold or italics. I don’t recommend underlining keywords because many people assume words that are underlined are links. Using header tags (H1, H2, H3) will help out as well, these tags are mostly used for titles and sub titles.

5 Article Promotion Tips for Article Writers
March 29, 2009 at 1:04 pm

Promote tips
Jinger Jarrett asked:

So you’ve written an article to promote your writing? Now what?

It’s time to promote your article.

It isn’t enough that you’ve written a great article. You have to get others to read it. This means distributing it as widely as you possibly can. It also means going where your potential reader is so that the reader gets to see your article and read it.

There are several ways to promote your article that I highly recommend because it will bring you more traffic to your site.

1. Article Submission Services

This is the fastest and easiest way to distribute your articles. However, the problem with article submission services is that they can be very expensive over the long haul. You have to be very careful about choosing your article submission service.

One of the best, and most popular, is Article Marketer: http://www.articlemarketer.com. With this service, you can get a free account so that you can try it out. You can stay with a free account as long as you like, and this allows you to submit to over 1,000 publishers. You can submit an unlimited number of articles for free.

2. Forums

Some forums allow you to post articles. My experience has been that you can get a lot of traffic from high traffic forums because the content is search engine friendly, and these sites get spidered quickly.

To find forums, do a search of your topic plus the search term “forums”. Look for forums that have lots of members, have a lot of posts, which means they are active, and accept articles.

3. Networking Sites

Networking sites are similar to forums in that they are community sites. However, networking sites are different from forums in that they are sites that tend to be composed of people in industry. You won’t find many customers on these sites, but these sites are also search engine friendly, get lots of traffic, and can get you a lot of traffic.

Here are two that I recommend:

4. Specialized Article Directories

Article directories that are related to your topic are also an excellent place to post your site. Although these sites may not get the traffic that the mainstream general article sites get, they are still a good place to post your articles because they are more targeted to both publishers and readers in your topic.

This can mean more targeted traffic to your site from your articles. Niche article directories shouldn’t be overlooked. Because articles are viral, you have a better chance of being found the more article directories you are included in.

To find specialized article directories, do a search for these directories the same way that you would do a search for forums. Search for the topic plus the search term “article directories”.

5. Other web sites

If you know of high traffic sites that accept articles on your topic, and you can submit directly to them, you should definitely do this.

Although I have often found these sites by accident, these sites aren’t hard to find. These sites require that you do a seach for your topic plus the search term “submit articles” or “articles”.

The best tool for doing searches of this type is Alexa. You can use Alexa to give you site rankings and other information about a site, as well as lead you to other related sites. This will save you a lot of time in research.

The bottom line is that the more directories and sites that you submit your article to, the more traffic you can get to your site. What’s important is that you write a good article, especially if you submit to individual sites. Submit good articles, and publishers will come looking for you. This can unleash a traffic virus for your site that will drive traffic to your site for years to come.
