Earn Money Online - Basic Principles
March 26, 2009 at 4:14 am

earn money online
James Hayes asked:

Making money on the Internet is possible. It’s often not easy and not simple, but it’s possible. There are many internet marketers out there that are making a ton of money following various approaches. Indeed, there is not such thing as “the way” to make money on the Internet. It depends on what you’re offering and how you promote it. However, there are certain standard rules that apply.

First of all, people who surf the Internet are real people like you and me. If you’re trying to promote a silly product or idea that nobody would even think of buying offline, what makes you think they’re going to want to buy it online? Furthermore, since the Internet started as a free network (ok, it started as a military network but then evolved to a more academic network) many people expect to find things for free and are reluctant to pay for many services. So whatever it is you will be offering, make sure to do some market research first to see if there are any free alternatives for it, that will probably take away most of your customers. Keep the above in mind, when thinking of a product you wish to create (e.g. an e-book about a subject you know well) or when choosing an affiliate program to promote. In fact, most marketing courses out there currently teach pretty much the same thing. Find a good affiliate program (or more than one) or create an e-book about a subject you know well. If you create your own product, you can use affiliate networks such as Clickbank to promote it for you and earn a whole lot more than if you were just one of these affiliates promoting someone else’s product, assuming that the products will have more or less the same demand.

The biggest issue about Internet Marketing, however, is promoting your product. Promotion means traffic. You need to let people know that your product exists and offer a way for them to buy it from you. The greatest product or affiliate program in the world means nothing if people don’t know about it. However, a so-so product will still generate sales and profits if you put it in front of enough people. And by people, I mean people even remotely interested in that product category. Would a young healthy person be interested in buying pills online? Probably not. That doesn’t stop spammers from sending these e-mails though. Is it worth the trouble? Again, probably not. There is a whole better (and legal) way to attract customers to your site. Notice that we are now talking about customers and not people in general. And the way to acquire customers to your site is not just random traffic but targeted traffic. People who have expressed an interest to the product or to an area where your product applies.

So how does someone express interest in something, and how do you know about it? Opt-in lists? Been there, done that and it’s not too effective. Not to mention the cost and that there will always be people not remembering opting in and accusing you of spamming them. The best way by far, to attract targeted traffic to your site is through search engines. And if you’re thinking “yeah, right, how do I get on the Top 10 results with millions of competing pages” then you’re WRONG! It’s not as bad and as tough as you might think it is. There are still many areas where you can handle the competitions. There are also profitable keyword phrases that are not targeted by many sites. And by that, I don’t mean that you get a small number of Google results. The search phrase “buy low cost affordable XYZ service” may still return a million results, but if you carefully examine the first result, you may see that the page is optimized just for the word “XYZ service” and that with little effort, you can beat them for the above key-phrase (but not for “XYZ service”). If you’re thinking that no-one enters such long key-phrases you are again wrong! In fact, the more keywords a search query contains, especially if “buy” is one of them, the more likely it is that you have a determined customer. And you can really make an income with 10 or 20,000 highly targeted leads per month on your website. Also bear in mind, that people searching for “XYZ service” are not necessarily determined to buy that service, they may just be doing research, contrary to the ones using “buy low cost XYZ service” that will have a much higher conversion rate to actual sales!

So, there you have it, the general principles of earning money online. Forget the get-paid-to-surf or stuff-envelopes or whatever scams there are out there! In subsequent articles, I will mention more about how to optimize your site for specific keywords, and how to locate good keywords (no point being ranked number one for the “invisible enterpreneurs” key-phrase which is searched once per month or so…). In the mean time, you should definitely familiarize yourself with terms such as SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and tools such as WordTracker, SEOElite and Good Keywords. If it starts to seem like actual work, then that’s because it is. Do you really believe that a company that claims you don’t have to know about computers, you don’t have to know about the product, you don’t have to talk to customers, actually needs you so that they have someone to send a check to? To make money you either have to put in your knowledge and expertise, your time or your money. Usually all three, but certainly not zero! If a company claims otherwise, then it’s probably a scam and most likely it has a start-up or subscription fee (which means that in the end, you’re still giving something, your hard-earned cash). There are no free lunches in life and the Internet is not an exception.

Here is a Marriage Tip for the Couples
March 26, 2009 at 2:08 am

Good money tips
FRANCIS K GITHINJI asked:

People are usually madly in love before they get married. What exactly happens after they become a married couple? It beats my understanding because i can’t comprehend how two love birds can fail to workout out their relationship. Love is always a chronic disease which is cured by marriage. Does this mean that after marriage there is no love? This should not be the case. That special institution should be made to work at all costs. Married couples should equip themselves with enough marriage tips as a weapon to prepare for wars when they rear their ugly heads. When you are starting for this journey through life, use all the marriage tips you can gather because it determines your destiny. When you are dull and their is no life in your marriage, retrieve old memories as a marriage tip to rejuvenate your commitment and attraction to each other. When you remember happy times together, it does the magic and brings back the fire in your marriage. May be it is a funny picture you took together or a Chinese dinner pack you took sometime back. It renews the attachment or even makes it stronger.

There will always be someone else better than you and another one worse than you. Marriages fail when comparison is involved. A good marriage tip is to avoid comparing your marriage with another one. Their will always be couples who are making more money, more social than you and may be seem happier. Accept what you have and make it better as a couple. Women especially bring marriage problems when they start admiring a seven sitter room in one of her friend’s house. Do not put unnecessary pressure on your spouse. A marriage tip dictates that you should understand that she/he cannot achieve the same things with your friends. You do not know what happens in their privacy. Things could be worse. If a marriage becomes competition among couples, then it is bound to fail.

I really agree with you that in laws sometimes can be a pain in the neck. What do we do? Assume they don’t exist? That would be a good recipe to a failing marriage. My marriage tip is, look for something you can use to come into terms with your in laws. I am sure they must have something you like. Compliment his mother’s cooking and laugh at his old father’s jokes. Pay for his sister’s hairdo. This shows your spouse that you love his people and he/she will love you for that. He might be in the know that his/her people are not so easy to put up with but your effort to tolerate them will do a great favor to your marriage.

“I know my wife is my number one fan”. I heard my pastor say that last Sunday. I thought of sharing this with you because you will agree with me it is a great marriage tip. My pastor’s marriage is one to be envied. He was sure even if he preaches and everyone else fails to listen to him, his lover would be all ears. What a sweet feeling. Compliment him for what he does. When your spouse gets a promotion at his/her work place, shout and scream in celebration. This is what we call an island of piece. Make your marriage work.

Make Money Online Just by Selling Photos!

Making Money Tips
Larry Rivera asked:

If you’re looking for a simple but fun way to make money online, consider selling photos over the Internet! You don’t have to be a pro and it can even give you a valid excuse to travel. Here are a few tips to get you started with your future source of online income.

Go digital.

A film camera, whether it’s a point-and-shoot one or an impressive looking SLR, is many a beginner’s choice for creating photos they wish to sell online. But there are certain drawbacks to these.

Firstly, a film camera requires you to shoulder the extra expense of having it printed. And then you’ll have to make the extra effort of scanning the photos before you can upload it online. A film camera also limits the number of shots you have to take and require you to purchase extra rolls of film. A digital camera, on the other hand, lets you transfer your shots to another storage device and then you can resume taking photos once more.

In time, with enough skills and practice, you might indeed find a film camera more adequate for your work. But for now, a digital camera is the better choice.

Don’t make it complicated.

As a beginner, what you should concentrate on most is acquiring practice and that literally means pointing and shooting your camera as often as you can.

Aim for simplicity. Find the most essential or attractive elements in a vast and busy background. Better yet, scan your surroundings with your camera and you’ll find something to focus on more easily.

Consider composition and lighting as well. Both factors can make a huge difference with your photos.

Tips for Selling Photos Online

Exposure is the most important factor for selling your photos online. No matter how beautiful your photos are, they won’t be sold if no one knows about them.

Make your photos accessible.

Having your own website or online photo journal is all well and good, but you’ll gain more exposure if you also upload photos in other photo hosting websites like iStockphoto, Dreamstime, ShutterStock, and Fotolia.

Think keywords.

When a person is looking for a certain photo, they don’t browse images but rely on keyword-based searches. Thus, you need to think of all possible keywords for your photos and when we say ALL, we really do mean ALL.

Think variety.

Never discard a photo you’ve taken just because you think nobody would like them. You’d be surprised at the kind of photos individuals or companies would be interested in.

Be organized.

If you have an online photo journal, be sure that your photos are organized for easy browsing. Customers could lose interest when they have a hard time searching for the photo they need.

Make payment processes convenient.

It must be easy for your customers to purchase your photos. If you can’t arrange for a safe and secure payment handler for your website then maybe you’re better off using the services of an established photo hosting website.

Advertise, advertise, advertise!

A picture may speak a thousand words, but that doesn’t mean your photos should do your job for you. Promote your photos. Talk about them online. Join forums to increase exposure for your online photo journal. Create a blog. Write articles and redirect readers to your website. Do everything you can to gain exposure for your photos and your photos will do the rest.
